Enclosure by Sophia Sobers

Enclosure explores the connection between the symbolic cultivation of plants and the space it exists in, suggesting a narrative of a person who is tied to the caring of these plants in the system he has created for himself. The dystopian installation stirs up several contemporary questions: can we truly control the wild, or must we allow some things to remain untouched by technology?

Enclosure was re-presented at Todo Bajo Control, in collaboration with TOOMS. TOOMS mixes original and found audio footage—often from natural sources like water and wind—creating droning, beatless landscapes mixed live via cassette tapes.
